Loons have long, pointed bills. They dive to feed and usually swallow fish underwater. The Common Loon is usually found in coastal areas but also on lakes and ponds in scattered inland areas. Red-throated and Pacific Loons are rare visitors to the state, most often seen in north Florida during fall and winter. |
