Project Bunting Watch was begun in 1996 by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) due to sharp declines in the population of
painted buntings. Volunteers in northeast Florida watch their bird feeder(s) for 30 minutes each week during May, June, and July to collect data for the study.
